One of two two-sport athletes at GW, Yaniga also is GW's career home run leader with 25 round-trippers for the Colonials' softball team ... appeared in 15 games as a junior in 2006 wher she posted three kills, five digs and a pair of block assists ... named to GW's Athletic Dept. Dean's List (Fall `06) ... the 2007 season marks Yaniga's second with the volleyball team ... she has played the past three seasons for the GW Softball team as an outstanding center fielder ... as a junior for the Colonials' softball team last year, she hit .294 with a team-high nine home runs, 20 RBIs while appearing in 47 games.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Two-sport athlete who was a standout for both the volleyball and softball teams at Southwest Miami ... named All-State first team and All-Dade County first team for both volleyball and softball as a senior and was a finalist for Female Athlete of the Year ... posted career totals of 693 kills, 397 blocks, 254 digs and 83 service aces ... led her team to the Class 6A Greater Miami Athletic Conf. and Regional championships as a senior under VB coach Iris Gonzalez ... ranked 34th of 768 students academically ... recipient of the Kiwanis Scholar Athlete scholarship. "As a two-sport athlete, there's no doubt that Jackie could be one of our most athletic players I've had at GW," Coronel said. "We'll make the most of our time with Jackie in the fall and hopefully allow her to showcase her jumping ability as well as her aggressiveness at the net."
