BUFFALO, NY - The George Washington men's swimming & diving team concluded their 2007-08 season with a ninth place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships at Flickinger Aquatic Center. For the second time in three seasons, junior David Zenk was named Men's Most Outstanding Performer.
Zenk won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:47.15 in the final day of the conference championships, his third individual title of the Championships. Zenk also won the 200 and 400-yard IM's in previous nights in times of 1:50.50 and 3:56.36, respectively. The two-sport athlete was also the Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Performer, and Rookie, at the 2006 A-10 Championships. For the season, the St. Louis, MO, native won 22 of 24 (91.6%) of his individual races.
Freshman Andrew Maguire scored for GW in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:11.01), capping off a successful freshman season for the rookie. Maguire was 15th in the 100-yard butterfly on Friday night.
