PHILADELPHIA, PA -- George Washington's Brendan Barrack has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for men's golf the league office announced Monday. It marks Barrack's fifth A-10 weekly honor this season. The last freshman to win at least five A-10 Rookie awards was Richmond's Tim Courtney during the 2005-06 season.
Barrack tied teammate Conor McMahon for 11th place among the field of 105 golfers after firing a 188 (71-79-38) at the 10th annual George Washington Invitational men's golf tournament on the Delaware Shore. He also equalled his season-low 71 in Friday's first round.
The two-day, 45-hole event was played Friday and Saturday on the par 72, 6,834-yard Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club. The tournament, originally scheduled as a 54-hole event, was shortened to 45 holes due to darkness.
The Toronto, Canada native also won A-10 Rookie awards on Sept. 10 following his collegiate debut, again on Oct. 1, Oct. 15, and, most recently, on Mar. 3. Barrack's 76.1 stroke average is tied for fourth-best on the team.
Next up for the Colonials is the adidas Hoosier Invitational, hosted by Indiana University, on March 29-30, at Bloomington, IN. The 54-hole event takes place at the par-72, 6,813-yard Indiana University Golf Course.
