Role at GW:
For the past 20 years, she has been the Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator. Prior to that role, she served as Women's Athletics Director and Assistant Director of Athletics. She directly oversees 20 sports, nine men's and 11 women's, 30 coaches and the Athletics Communications Department. She serves as consultant to the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and coordinates several annual special events. In addition, she oversees the staff and programming at the Lerner Health and Wellness Center and the Mount Vernon athletic complex. She serves on GW's Athletic Council and the Senate Committee on Athletics and Recreation.
GW Highlights:
Warner joined the Colonials' program in 1977 and is active in national collegiate sports administration. She completed a term as Chair of the NCAA Research Committee. She is a former member of the NCAA Council and served on the NCAA's Financial Aid and Amateurism Committee, Committee on Women's Athletics, the Special Events Committee and the Division I Women's Soccer Committee. She also served on the Executive Board of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA) from 1988-1994. Warner received the 1991 Dean Meyerson Award for contributions in health fitness. In 1996, Warner was named the NACWAA District III Administrator of the Year. Warner serves on the Atlantic 10 Championships and Equity committee and the A-10 women's soccer and cross country sport committees. She also served on the membership committee for the GW University Club. In the fall of 2000, the GW Rowing team honored Warner by christening a new shell in her name. On April 6, 2002, Warner was elected to the Alumni Honor Academy of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Western Michigan University in recognition of professional accomplishments and contributions to the fields of health, physical education, recreation and unselfish civic service and leadership. In the summer of 2003, Warner completed The Institute for Athletics Executives sponsored by the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators and the NCAA.
Prior to GW:
Warner taught at the International School of Geneva, Switzerland. She completed a bicycle trip across the United States during the summer of 1975. While a student at Western Michigan University, Warner was a member of the varsity swimming and tennis teams and served on the student-athlete advisory council.
Personal:
Warner and her husband, Chris, live in Vienna, VA, and have three sons, Brett, an '04 GW grad and former member of the Colonials tennis team, Ryan and Ethan.
