Responsible for monitoring the athletic department's compliance and eligibility with institutional, Atlantic 10 and NCAA and policy and regulations.

Highlights:
Active in numerous committees on both the conference and national level, Bierwirth completed successful three-year stints in September 2003 as the chairperson of the NCAA Committee on Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct, which selects the NCAA Sportsmanship honoree(s), and as a member of the NCAA Women's Water Polo Committee, helping to determine the NCAA Championship participants each season. Bierwirth was recently appointed to the NCAA Division I Amateurism Fact-Finding Committee. As a member of that committee, she will be responsible for making determinations of facts related to the certification of prospective student-athletes' status on requests by institutions.

She currently is an NCAA Peer Reviewer having started that role in 2000 and was a member of the board of directors for the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) from 2002-2004. She served as the chair of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Sportsmanship Committee from 2004-2005 as well as the chair of the MAAC Water Polo Games Committee from 2001-2005 and was a member of the MAAC Compliance and Enforcement Committee from 1998-2004. Bierwirth was also the chair of the MAAC Softball Games Committee from 1998-2001, and in that position she was the driving force behind the successful Youth Education through Sports (YES) Clinics held in conjunction with the 1998 and 2001 MAAC Softball Championships held at Marist College. Bierwirth also had the privilege of serving on the Marist College Strategic Planning Subcommittee from 2002-2004.

Prior to GW:
Prior to joining GW, Bierwirth served as Associate Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, from 1997-2005. While in that position she was also the Interim Director of Academic Advisement for Student-Athlete from April 1999-January 2000. She also served as the College Compliance Officer/Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Academic Support at Coppin State College in Baltimore, MD, from 1995-1997.

Bierwirth and her husband, David, reside in Silver Spring, MD, with their daughter Caitlin and son David, Jr.
